PLANOMADREDDY CHECK-IN
One tablet at the entrance. A member looks at the camera, their name and days left come up, and the check-in is written. Even with the desk empty.
While the desk finds them in the book and writes it down, a queue forms at the door.
On a busy hour, an ended membership walks straight in.
Check-ins from the hours the desk stood empty are nowhere.
Fingerprint readers and kiosks are bought, installed and signed for on their own.
Members just look at it; the desk gets on with other work.

A first-time member
On the tablet they type the number the gym has, pick their name and agree. The desk can also ask a member to register from the member’s page.
For the ownerThe desk never has to stop and photograph members one by one.
When a member looks at the camera,
It goes on the desk’s check-in list and the member’s visits this month together. Step up again within ten minutes and it’s still one visit.
For the ownerEven with the desk empty, every member who steps up is on the list, with the time.
If the membership has ended or is on hold,
The desk, the tablet and the member’s phone show who may come in by the same rule; an ended membership is flagged on the spot, so it doesn’t go unnoticed.
For the ownerThe awkward “your membership has ended” is said by the tablet first, and the renewal talk starts at the desk.
No. Keep the door you have; the tablet writes the check-in and says whether the membership is good.
No. A face held up as a photo or on a screen isn’t accepted; the tablet asks for a real face.
It asks for one at a time, and calls a name only after the same person is recognised twice in a row. People passing far behind aren’t counted.
A face is registered only when the member agrees, and is used only for this gym’s check-ins. Deleted at the desk, it goes from the server’s records too. Camera video is neither kept nor sent.
No. Within ten minutes it says “already checked in” and counts one visit.
The tablet says the connection dropped and reads again shortly. Meanwhile the desk checks members in by name.
Any tablet with a front camera and a web browser, like the iPad or Galaxy Tab you may already have.
